visit thereをgo there
visit(自動詞) there
- visit it or visit there?
Sunshine English Course I Program 7-3 (p.73)
When do they usually visit there?また
I visited there every weekend during autumn.
I used to visit there when I was a boy.
It's not wrong, but it's not colloquial...at least not in American English. We are more likely to use some form of be (like in my earlier example) or go.
If the location has already been established (e.g., your grandmother's house), I would say:Did you go there last week?
How often do you go there?
Have you been there this week?
Were you there last week?
-
A: "I want to go to New York"; B: "OK, I suppose we could visit there next month"
Yes, you can say that, but all I can do is repeat that most natives wouldn't.A: "I'm going to New York next week."
B: "Oh, I was/went there last month." - Normal.
B: "Oh, I visited New York last month." - Normal.
B: "Oh, I visited there last month." - Not natural, but you would certainly be understood.
B: "Oh, I visited it last month." - Not possible.
-
